HUMAN SECURITY AND THE POLITICS OF PEACE IN NIGERIA

This paper seeks to interrogate the nexus between Human Security and peace in Nigeria. It looks at the factors that causes intractable crisis in Nigeria with focus on the North East, North Central and the Niger Delta as hotbed of continues conflict. The paper used secondary data drawn mostly from text books, journals, newspapers and the internet. Using Frustration-Aggression theory as theoretical frame for analysis, the paper argued that the Nigeria Government should imbibe human security ideals if conflict must reduce in the country. The paper also called for constant engagement of the Civil Societies in the activities of security agency in Nigeria. The paper also suggests among others, the implementation of the provisions of the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) report on peace processes.
